2012 Minor Hockey Penalty Free Challenge

BC Hockey, in partnership with the Vancouver Canucks, is excited to announce that the 2012 Penalty Free Challenge will take place from January 15-22, 2012.  The contest is open to all minor hockey teams in BC and the Yukon who complete a game without taking a penalty during the contest dates. 

Teams who are penalty free for an entire game must submit a completed entry form along with the game sheet to BC Hockey.  Teams will receive gifts from BC Hockey, and a grand prize will be given to a randomly selected team.

The Penalty Free Challenge is a program designed to encourage positive social values such as fair play, integrity, respect and fairness.  BC Hockey believes that these are essential elements of our game, and the program strives to instill these values within all minor hockey associations.

The Penalty Free Challenge is held in conjunction with Minor Hockey Week in BC, which runs from January 15-22, 2012.  There are a number of exciting programs and contests held through the week throughout BC Hockey to celebrate minor hockey in our province.

Elkford's Outdoor Rink is Good to Go!

Elkford's new outdoor rink is ready and will be open Saturday, December 16^th.  The rink will be open every day with the following schedule:

Shinny -                 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Public Skate -         1:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Shinny -                 7:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.

Please follow the rules that are posted at the rink.

Snow on the rink when you get there?  Not a problem!  There will be shovels hanging on the fence.  Do your part to keep our community rink free of snow!

Vacancies - Positions Available

High Country Rep

The High Country Rep meets with other Associations to organize league schedules for our pre-novice and novice teams. This is a great way for hockey parents in the younger age groups to get involved in our Association.

You don't need experience, you don't need to be fanatic about hockey (although that helps) to get involved. There are experienced people on our board that will help you through your orientation. So if you would like to help, please call Kevin at 865-2372.

New Travel Request

•         OUT OF PROVINCE TRAVEL REQUESTS
  • o   Must be sent to the District Director (John Gillen) for Approval
  • o   They must be submitted at least One Week in advance
  • o   Are required for all games against out of Province Teams including tournaments
  • o   Require a Sanction # from teams hosting the tournament
  • o   You are required to get a BC Hockey Sanction # is hosting a tournament
  • o   Games against USA Teams should be accompanied by a USA Hockey Authorization Form 3T
